If you didn’t make it to the Italian EIMA farm machinery show last November then don’t worry, because the French SIMA show at the end of this month provides another opportunity to see Maschio Gaspardo’s newly-launched 24-row Julia pneumatic precision drill.
Designed for 75cm row widths, the 18m-wide drill carries 7,500 litres of fertiliser and 2,000 litres of seed. Coulter pressure can be adjusted up to 200kg, and the Julia weighs over 13 tonnes. The Italian manufacturer recommends a minimum power requirement of 350hp, and despite its dimensions, the machine folds to a transport width of 3 metres.
The Julia is equipped with new electronically-controlled ISObus seeding units, which says the company, not only increases seeding accuracy, but also eliminates all mechanical gears, shafts and universal joints, helping to simplify maintenance.
