HiSpec Engineering’s latest dump trailer uses the push-off headboard system for unloading which was originally designed for the Kompactor range of push-off trailers.
The Push-off PD20 Dump Trailer has a heaped load volume of 14.5m3, giving it a carrying capacity of around 20 tonnes, depending on material.
Unlike conventional tipping dump trailers, the PD20 is offloaded using a hydraulically operated moving-floor type headboard that pushes the load from the body once the up-and-over tailgate has been raised. Push-off capacity of 28,000kg.
By emptying the load this way the trailer can be offloaded on slopes without a risk of the tipping over, or where there are height restrictions. It also makes it easy to offload and spread a load while on the move. Once the trailer has been emptied and the tailgate closed, the operator can move off while the headboard is retracting, so avoiding the delay of lowering the body when using a tipping trailer.
Hydraulic tipping rams and hinge points are not needed on the PD20 so the centre of gravity is lower than for a conventional dump trailer. The load height is 2.39m.
The floor of the trailer body is constructed from 8mm thick Hardox steel, and 6mm Hardox steel is used for the body sides.
The hydraulically sprung drawbar is fitted with a bolt-on, swivel hitch. Commercial 127mm axles are fitted with 420×180 air/hydraulic brakes and 525/65 R20.5 173F tyres.
