Grassland UK visitors were treated to a first glimpse of a prototype grass pick-up for Lacotec’s tractor-mounted harvester. Previously the machine relied on a Claas header with an adaptor, whereas the new 2.70m/3.00m close-coupled, camless unit is purpose-designed and -built for the Lacotec. There’s also a new flywheel that’s reckoned to be capable of handling up to 600hp, so some way north of the 360hp provided by the pictured Fendt 936. The tag of £80,000 includes the grass pick-up and Mastercracker 250 corn cracker, but a maize header must be bought separately.
