Though perhaps better known in the past for its smaller kit, Slovenian firm SIP is now firmly focused on building bigger, higher output mowers, rakes and tedders — the likes of 15m triple mowers, 12.5m rakes and 15m tedders.
Main attraction at Grassland UK, however, was a 3.0m front-mounted merger, which, when paired with a 5m wide trailed unit is capable of placing 16m of crop into a single swath, albeit in two passes. Key advantages when compared with, say, a conventional four-rotor rake are that the merger doesn’t pick up stones, it has a gentler action on delicate crops and it can travel at faster speeds (up to 15km/hr).
