Pöttinger says that it’s cross flow auger allows grass swaths to be cut and merged for the first time without a conditioner.
Developed following farmer requests for a straightforward and cost-effective system that is also suitable for simple rear-mounted mowers, the cross flow auger merges the material to form a single swath when mowing.
Available on the Novacat 352 and A10, Pöttinger says that the auger provides a conditioning effect to accelerate the drying process. For more intensive drying, the rear flap is opened to create a wider swath. The company reckons that the auger not only handles the crop gently, but also consumes 20% less power than a comparable cross conveyor belt, which helps to save fuel.
When cross flow is used with the Novacat 352/A10 with a 3.0m wide front mower, 12.0m/19.0m is mowed during two passes with both swaths placed within a width of 6.0m/12.0m. Closing the rear flap on the cross flow diverts crop to the inside when mowing the headland.
Reducing the number of field passes, a two-rotor centre-swath rake is sufficient (or a four-rotor rake on a single pass) as the following machine.
