East Yorkshire-based Grange Machinery has added a 6.0m mounted model to the top end of the Strip-Till Preparator range.
Recommended for tractors above 300hp, the new model joins the existing 3.0m (rigid), and 4.0m and 4.5m folding versions. The main difference on the 6.0m width is extra hydraulic adjustment in both the catching discs forwards/backwards around the leg.
“The vertical adjustment added to the rear offset discs is also key in the cultivation process within the row,” comments Grange Machinery managing director Rhun Jones.
Weight of the 6.0m eight-row Strip-Till Preparator heading to Lamma will be around 4.2t. The transport width is 3.0m.
All four widths can now be specified in 0.45m, 0.5m, 0.6m, 0.75m and 0.8m row spacing to adapt to different crops and conditions. Available with either shear bolt or hydraulic auto-reset leg protection, the angle of the three rows of 450mm diameter discs is hydraulically adjustable from the cab.
The seedbed is finished with a zonal Guttler prism roller ring which breaks down any clods that have flowed through the system as well as consolidating the row in readiness for a planter. Options include the application of granular or liquid fertiliser down the low disturbance tine.
Described as a true one-pass cultivator, the Strip-Till Preparator was developed to improve soil preparation ahead of planting maize, sugar beet and oilseed rape. Following two seasons of prototype testing on-farm, full production of the 3.0-4.5m models started earlier this year.
