Sky Agriculture has added an 8.0m model to the EasyDrill range. It will be on show for the first time in the UK on the Opico stand at next month’s Cereals Event.
Sharing the same coulter line, multi hopper capacity and electronic system as the existing 4.0m and 6.0m pneumatic models, the W8020 Fertisem EasyDrill is available with up to four hoppers.
“The ability to seed from four hoppers at once allows so many possibilities e.g. mixed cover crops/companion cropping/small seeds/slug pellets to be added as desired,” says Glenn Bootman, product manager for Sky in the UK. “It also combats the risks of seeds of different sizes settling out in the hoppers.”
ISObus ready and supplied as standard with Sky’s Quartz 800 control box, the 8.0m drill can be specified with E-Drive premium. This offers left and right section control as well as touch-button controlled electronic row shut off for individual outlets.
This ability to shut off individual rows also means that whatever the width of the sprayer or spreader it no longer needs to be a multiple width of the drill. This function allows the sprayer/spreader width to be changed without having to renew the drill.
With row spacings of 16.6cm the 8.0m drill services 48 coulters, each with seed and fertiliser outlets. The 250kg coulter pressure provides the versatility to drill straight into hard stubbles, cultivated soil and direct, and through cover crops.
An additional feature of the coulter line is the ability to transfer weight hydraulically between the front and rear press wheels. In damp and/or loose soil conditions, weight is transferred onto the front press wheels. In dry conditions the weight can be moved to the rear press wheel for improved slot closing.
Typical working speed is between and 6.0-12km/hr and the 8.0m drill weighs just under 10 tonnes. With a transport width of 3.0m and a loading height of 3.2m, the W8020 Fertisem EasyDrill costs from £151,624.
