Designed for gentle handling of alfalfa, clover, and a wide variety of crops from grass to straw, swathing options with the Mergento VT 9220 belt-type merger, include central and left or right delivery. Pottinger’s first merger can also produce two single swaths and even load forage for a short period.

With a working width of up to 9.2m for central delivery and 8.7m when side swathing, material is lifted by the six-row pick-up. The cam track makes the tines retract just before the belt and the 120mm higher transfer point allows material to fall freely onto the conveyor belt.

The conveyor unit is said to provide reliable operation on slopes and with short cut crops, and centre pivot mounting of each belt is said to result in an even weight distribution and is the basis for 3D ground tracking.

The design of the boom with three hydraulic cylinders is said to react quickly to any ground undulations. Vertical movement is +475mm to -195mm in centre-swath mode, the while lateral float is +30 to -13 degrees. The inclination in the direction of travel can move from +11.5 to -0 degrees.

Switching the belts on and off automatically at the headland is said to guarantee tidy swath starts and ends and saves time because there is no need to empty them at the end of each pass. The delay time for switching them on and off, the direction of rotation and position of each belt is adjusted on the in-cab terminal.

The Mergento will be available this autumn.
