Bolstering its current range of Loadalls, JCB has added a new top of the range engine and transmission package. Available only in top spec AgriPro format, engine power has been pumped up to 173hp, hydraulic capacity boosted to 160lit/min and a 50km/hr version of the firm’s Dualtech VT transmission is fitted.
Dualtech VT in 50km/hr guise sees hydrostatic drive from 0-22km/hr, with a three speed torque converter with lockup taking you from 22-50km/hr. Launched on the 542-70, a 4.2t, 7.0m loader, the top of the range machine also benefits from heavier duty drivelines, axles and steering rams, up to 500mm-wide tyres, and front and rear axle braking.
More power and top speed are suited to road and towing duties, where tractor road homologation has been met. Dual-hydraulic or air trailer brakes can be specified.
While larger 72cc hydraulic pump boosts hydraulic output, JCB says individual cycle times are similar. However, when performing multiple tasks, such as raising and extending the boom, the firm says movements are faster and more responsive.
