It has not taken long for Universal Hobbies to produce the first 1:32-scale miniature of the Massey Ferguson 9S.425. If models are not your thing, then the full-size tractor will be at Lamma in January.
The S9.425 miniature, like the real tractor on the Massey stand, was launched at Agritechnica. The result of six to seven months of development and production, the scale-model, like other UH novelties at the German show, is made from metal, plastic and rubber.
The 19cm-long x 9.0cm-wide x nearly 12cm-high 9S.425 comprises 130 different parts. There are separate ones for the handrails and wipers, rear wheel weights, GPS receiver, and folding exterior mirrors and warning signs.
Other notable points include the adjustable front and rear linkages (length of the top link is adjustable), the wheels turn, and we are particularly impressed by the intricate detail of the central tyre inflation system. The detailed interior inside the fully glazed cab includes a seat, steering wheel, pedals, dashboard, armrest and side console.
Weighing precisely 602g, the new Massey Ferguson logo is printed on the front of the hood. The first batch of models sold like hot cakes at the German show. If you did not manage to secure one of them, then the miniature is on general release from January 10, 2024, and the French scale-model manufacturer expects it to be popular. The RRP is €89.00.
If you did not make it to the German show and are keener to see kick the tyres of the full-size flagship in the new 9S series, then the place to be is Lamma. This will be the first time the 9S flagship tractor range will be shown in the UK. We are told that the S9.425 from Agritechnica will be on the Massey stand.
Returning to Lamma after a five-year absence, the brand’s Lamma stand will also have a special offer to mark the occasion of 30 years of the sloping bonnet design (originally introduced on the MF3000 series in 1993.)
Buyers of 5S.125 and 5S.145 tractors can choose a new 30th anniversary edition spec, which comes as standard with a Visio roof, FL.4121 self-levelling front loader with Softdrive and third service, and eight LED work lights. In cab extras such as a plastic floor mat, B-pillar phone holder, and 30th edition decals are also included.
