The new net tying system on this season’s variable chamber round baler range provides a more positive delivery of net into the chamber each time to bind bales. The update also includes improved guarding.
Replacing the previous steel and rubber roller combination, the folding arm on the net chute tying set up on the four-model range (160V, 160V Xtra, 180V and 180V Xtra) feeds the net onto the bale in a similar way to that of a conveyor belt.
“This means that due to the positive feeding method, the net isn’t susceptible to wind either produced from the chamber or externally,” says Sam Treadgold, Fendt’s baler sales engineer.
The new plastic guards are not only claimed to keep the chain track free from dirt and debris, but are also said to be easier to fit and remove as there is less weight to handle.
The four models also benefit from new storage locations for the castor wheels, which now clip onto the guard above the pickup reel to speed up attachment times (option of a 2.0m or 2.5m wide pickup).
Operated from the cab, the HydraFlex hydraulic drop floor on the Rotana 160 V Xtra and 180 V Xtra balers lowers by 500mm to clear any blockages. A bank of XtraCut knives, in either 13, 17 or 25 knife rotors is also included.
