The uncertain and declining farm machinery markets are behind Fendt’s decision to pull out of the telehandler and forage wagon business.

Starting first with Sennebogen, the German manufacturer, which built the Cargo T series telehandlers for Fendt since Agritechnica 2019, will market them directly through agricultural equipment dealers under its own brand name starting in the second half of this year.

Existing delivery commitments for new machines under the Fendt brand will be fulfilled, is the message, and the supply of spare parts and service for the existing population of Fendt telehandlers will continue to be supported by Agco in line with legal requirements.

The current market situation requires a more flexible approach to production capacities, comments Christoph Gröblinghoff, vice president and chairman of the Fendt management board.

“This leads to an increase in unit costs,” he added. “In order to maintain the competitiveness of our products, certain product groups will be offered directly by our partners in the future.”

Fendt’s new partner for the loader wagon product group is Strautmann. This follows the decision to discontinue the production of Tigo loader wagons at the Wolfenbüttel site in Germany. Again, Agco will supply spare parts for the existing population of machines in accordance with legal requirements.

It is unclear whether the Strautmann machines will also be sold through the Fendt dealer network.
