The current development status of the E100 is encouraging, says Fendt, the battery-powered tractor providing a significant reduction in CO2 output and zero emissions.
Previewed at Agritechnica 2017, feedback following three years of user evaluation has resulted in a few updates. The DC supercharger is still available but the E100 Vario is now also equipped with a charging cable for 400v sockets with up to 32A. This equates to a charging capacity of around 22kW, allowing the battery to still be fully charged in under five hours.
Demonstrated in various field tests with conventional PTO-driven implements, including tedders, rakes and feed mixers, as well as hydraulically driven machines, the E100 Vario can also be used with new electrically-powered kit as well as existing attachments.
The plan was to have the 100kW tractor ready and on sale by 2020. According to Mechaman.nl the launch will now not be before 2024. The delay is due to battery prices. These have fallen during the past three years, but are still considered to be too expensive.
