German-mixer wagon specialist Siloking will remove the wraps from an electrically-powered self-propelled version at this month’s EuroTier livestock machinery show, in Hannover, Germany. Called the TruckLine 4.0 Compact 8 (8cu.m. capacity), the technique sees the diesel engine swapped for a battery that powers two electric motors – one for the mixing auger and one for the drive system. The company reckons a fully-charged battery can mix and feed three batches, which is sufficient for 150 animals. The electric mixer wagon is expected to go on sale next year. The next stage could be to add an electrically-powered milling head, and Siloking says an autonomous version is in the pipeline.
