Deere & Company has signed a definitive agreement to acquire PLA, a privately-held Argentine manufacturer of sprayers, drills and planters.
With manufacturing facilities in Las Rosas, Argentina, and Canoas, Brazil, the company makes a range of Deutz-powered self-propelled sprayers with tank capacities up to 4,100-litres, and a single trailed 3,000-litre version.
Founded in 1975, PLA is believed to have been the first company to produce self-propelled sprayers in Latin America. The company has around 450 employees and currently sells its products on four continents.
Deere has been busy on the self-propelled sprayer front. In 2016, it entered a joint venture with US high-clearance sprayer maker Hagie Manufacturing, and last year acquired Italian manufacturer Mazzotti.
