OSS+, the latest version of Tecnoma’s OSS (Optimal Spray System), uses a gyroscope to detect the steering angle and alter the flow as the spray boom turns a corner.

The new version is claimed to overcome an issue with the existing multi-nozzle OSS in that while it provides a constant pressure irrespective of speed and flow rate variations, when turning corners, the outer nozzles travel further than the inner ones.

The result, says the company, is that nozzles on the boom nearest the sprayer tend to apply too much chemical and those on the outer edge of the boom too little. Using information from the gyroscope, the computer on the optional ISObus controlled OSS+ system, which is only available on the firm’s self-propelled sprayers, measures the forward speed and the turning radius for each individual boom section to maintain the correct spray rate.

Other Tecnoma news concerns the TecLine-L spray boom, and an updated version of the TecLine-R, the first version of which was launched with the Maxis mounted sprayers in 2015.

The TecLine L, which features a new folding design and intelligent and active stabilising system, is new on trailed Tecnis sprayers. Previewed at Agritechnica last year, the company says 10 TecLine-Ls have already been sold in France, Belgium and Spain.
