Sulky-Burel has developed a solution that maintains a constant fertiliser spread pattern independent of the forward speed of the tractor.

Called Speed Control, it was developed following French research that fertiliser distribution quality varies according to the forward speed of the tractor.

Two years in the making (first year to integrate inside the ISObus software; the second to field test and obtain AEF certification), the device is integrated within the Econov system and works using GPS forward speed information from the tractor.

The patented technique does not change the rotational speed of the discs as the speed of the tractor changes, but the point where fertiliser falls onto them. The concept is claimed to guarantee a uniform distribution as the tractor speeds up or slows down in the field.

The winner of a silver medal in this year’s virtual SIMA show innovation awards, Speed Control equipped models (X40+ Econov and X50+ Econov) will be available in mainland Europe from September, although the first units are not expected to arrive in the UK until early 2022.

The X40+ is available in working widths from 24-50m and hopper capacities from 1,900-3,200 litres. The X50+ is offered in working widths of 24-50m and hopper capacities from 2,400-4,200 litres.
