Designed for use on uneven terrain and upland pastures and suitable for use with medium-sized (37-43hp) tractors, Kuhn Farm Machinery’s front mounted GMD 2820 F and GMD 3120 F mowers are both compact and light, weighing just 544 and 596kg respectively. Both are available with either a bolted yoke mounting system or quick-hitch A-frame, and the company says the central pendulum-type single pivot arrangement is designed to accurately follow ground contours.

Ground pressure adjustment can be made directly from the tractor for those equipped with an integrated front lift system. Alternatively, mounting springs located between the attachment frame and tractor can be used to control vertical movement. Both machines use the Optidisc cutter bar which is fitted with six (GMD 2820 F) or seven (GMD 3120 F) cutting discs, each of which are equipped with two knives. Cut width of the GMD 2820 F is 2.70m (1.30m swaths), while the GMD 3120 F cuts to a width of 3.14m and produces 1.50m swaths.

Described as easy and simple to maintain machines, which come with a sealed and lubricated-for-life gearbox, individual shear points on each disc’s driveshaft protect the cutter bar’s internal components from impact damage. In the event of a violent impact between a disc and an obstacle, Kuhn reckons the shaft holding the disc will shear just above the bearing and can be replaced in less than 15 minutes.

Prices start from £9,713 for the GMD 2820 F and from £10,183 for the GMD 3102 F. Optional equipment for both models includes swath width reduction plates, suspension springs, an attachment offset kit and running and signalling lights.
