SlurryKat has developed a multi-purpose trailer which is predominantly used as a dumper but can also be used as a silage trailer when a special kit is added.
Called the SDT, the chassis and pendulum bogie system on the 22t half-pipe Premium Plus is of a new design. The chassis and all the main components are made from S355 high tensile steel, while the body is manufactured from Hardox S700.
“Using this high-quality material means we can make the trailer lighter by using 5.0mm thick material on the body whilst still achieving the high structural strength the trailer requires,” says SlurryKat CEO and principle design engineer Garth Cairns.
The silage kit is designed to be removed swiftly in one piece including the hydraulic door. When the kit is added, the dump trailer door drops to allow a totally flat floor for easy material flow.
The silage kit is designed with a forward sloping dropped front panel. The company says this is useful when opening up a field and blowing grass over the tractor hauling the trailer.
When the silage kit is added to the dump trailer the combined unit has a capacity of 34m³. Fitted with 710/40 R22.5 tyres, the standard spec includes a hydraulic jack.
All paintwork comes with a five-year guarantee as standard. The Northern Ireland manufacturer plans to add additional models to the range. Prices for this current model start at £24,995 plus VAT.
