CNHI brands Case IH and New Holland knocked John Deere from pole position in the UK tractor market in 2020 accounting for 3,299 (27.1%) of the 11,985 new tractor registrations. AEA figures show that New Holland made up 2,129 (17.8%) of this and Case IH 1,100 (9.2%).

John Deere, which headed the market in previous years, secured the highest share from a single brand, but was nudged into second spot with 3,157 units and a 26.5% market share.

The top three spots were closely contended and third placed AGCO (Massey Ferguson, Fendt and Valtra) ended the year with a total of 3,133 units (26.3%). Massey topped the AGCO trio with 1,581 registrations (13.2%), followed by Fendt (898/7.5%) and Valtra (654/5.5%).

Kubota secured fourth position with 784 units (6.6%), while the 449 units registered by Claas equates to fifth position and a 3.8% share of the UK tractor market.

Same Deutz Fahr occupied eighth place with 208 units (1.7%), while the 187 units registered by JCB gave it a 1.6% share of the market. The last two top 10 places were secured by Agri Argo brands McCormick (103/0.9%) and Landini (51/0.4%). Other brands accounted for another 634 tractors (5.3%).

The data is released after a one year delay due to competition law restrictions; figures for 2021 are due to be published early 2023.
