After divesting the Överum plough business earlier this year, CNH Industrial has reportedly sold Kongskilde to Italian company Seko Industries.

There is nothing official, but various European websites are reporting that the deal was completed earlier this month and that CNH no longer sell Kongskilde products.

Carlo Alberto Sisto, president of CNH Industrial in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) zone, is believed to have informed his network of the deal earlier this month. One French site has even published what it claims are details from the letter, which reads:

Following this transaction and in line with the strategic decisions of the CNH Group, we confirm that as of August 7, 2024, CNH will cease the production and distribution of products (cultivators, hoes, mixer wagons, trailed forage harvesters and stone pickers), as well as the distribution of disc cultivators and ploughs. The products mentioned will no longer be part of CNH’s product catalogue and will no longer be orderable,” writes Mr Sisto. “All current and previous orders for products will be fulfilled during the transition period necessary to transfer production to Seko’s factories.”

Providing it is true, then the sale of Kongskilde would appear to signal a major reversal by CNH to position New Holland as an agricultural machinery full liner. This began in 2016 when CNH acquired Kongskilde and integrated the arable and grass harvesting machines into the New Holland portfolio.

Also, New Holland has reportedly ended its partnership with Italian manufacturer Maschio Gaspardo to supply it with certain blue-branded cultivators and subsoilers. According to Dutch website Mechaman, Maschio will continue to supply New Holland will certain grass machines. The future for New Holland appears to be as a grass machinery full liner and combine specialist.

Incidentally, adding arable kit to the mix is a big step for Seko Industries, which up until now has focused purely on making mixer wagons. Providing Seko has bought Kongskilde then it is possible we will see some of the Italian manufacturer´s first arable and grass products at this year´s EIMA show in November.
