Rolls-Royce has signed an agreement to supply Claas with EU Stage V emissions-compliant MTU engines. Covering a broad power range from 100kW (135hp) to 480kW (652hp), we understand the new and improved MTU Series 1000 to 1500 engines will power the Lexion and Tucano combine harvesters, Jaguar SPFH and Xerion.
Based on Daimler OM 93x and OM 47x commercial vehicle engines, the new blocks will ultimately power a large proportion of Claas vehicles, and from 2019 (when Stage V comes into force), a total of 4,000 to 5,000 engines are to be supplied per year across all series and emissions levels. Claas says it is currently field-testing 10 vehicles powered by the new engines.
