Producing bales with a diameter of 1.25m and width of 1.20m, the 520 is a new entry level fixed chamber model in the Rollant range.
Half of the 16 rollers in the bale chamber are made from 3mm-thick sheet steel, the other half from 4mm-thick sheet steel. Claas says the ribbed profile of the rollers ensures precise rotation of the bale, even under moist conditions.
Baling pressure is controlled via the tailgate closing rams, and for maximum bale density, a pressure of up to 150 bar can be applied to the rams.
Available in variants with a chopping system, feed rotor and assister feed rake, crop is gathered by a 2.10m-wide pick-up (1.85m with assister feed rake). On the options list is a crop guard (to improve the crop flow even with small swaths), and a 14-knife chopping mechanism. With a theoretical cut length of 70mm, the knives have individual protection against foreign objects.
Operators have a choice of net or twine wrapping, with no tools required to change the wrapping mode. A ramp on the right side of the machine simplifies the process of loading the wrapping system, and provides space to carry a spare roll of either film or net.
