The suspense is over, well partly. Case IH has been touting the latest generation of Magnum at a couple of US shows this week but much of the technical spec remains under wraps.
The AFS Connect Magnum, as it is now officially known, is claimed to provide operators with new levels of comfort. It is certainly the most intelligent Magnum to date containing new levels of digital interactivity.
On the outside, the tri-stripe decal and updated grill, which appear to come from the autonomous Magnum concept, are among the changes but the big news is the redesigned cab, which provides operators with a panoramic 360-degree view as there is no longer a left-hand B-post.
Inside is a new display and the refined MultiControl armrest has eight control buttons, a MultiFunction handle with four programmable hot key buttons, and an encoder knob for total control at the operator’s fingertips.
Fitted with enhanced heating and air conditioning systems, there are additional storage compartments, multiple cup holders and numerous charging and data ports. A telescoping steering wheel is also included.
Telescoping mirrors are adjustable from the cab, the seat swivels by 40 degrees and new front and rear cameras are standard on the luxury package with two additional camera options. There are rumoured to be three spec levels for the new generation tractor.
Additional improvements include a semi-active cab suspension option and tyre pressure monitoring sensors and all models are covered by a two-year, 2,000-hour factory warranty or at least they are in North America.
We are still awaiting details of any changes to the model numbers, horsepower and engine, which we assume is now Stage V-compliant and the main reason for the update. It has been suggested there is a new more powerful addition.
We expect more details will be made available before the European debut of the new Magnum, which we understand will not take place until Agritechnica in November, with the first deliveries expected during the first half of 2020.
