New Holland distributor CMC Motors recently handed over fifty new 2wd TS6000 tractors to Butali Sugar Mills Limited (BSML). Joining the sugar milling company’s fleet of over 200 New Holland 90hp TS90 and TS6000 tractors, the West Kenyan-based company owns the biggest fleet of TS6000s (2wd) in Sub-Saharan Africa. BSML’s mills have a raw cane crushing capacity of 2,500 tonnes a day. Working 20 hours a day – spread over three shifts – the tractors haul sugar cane from 30,000 contracted farmers. New Holland reckons to have supplied seven out of 10 tractors for haulage and trailer pulling in Africa and the Middle East. BSML, which has been a customer for the past 30 years, likes the robust design and the simple to operate and maintain mechanics of the TS. The fleet is regularly renewed, and none of their tractors are older than 5 years.
