Danish slurry tanker maker Samson Agro claims to have made around 2,000 PG slurry tankers since production started in 2000. The successful five-model range has spread many millions of cu.m. of slurry, and if all 2,000 machines were placed end-to-end they would stretch to a length of 20km.

Accounting for over half of the numbers during the past 16 years, the triple-axle PG 25 (25cu.m.) has been the best-selling model ever for the Danish company, and machines can be found all over Europe, and as far away as Russia and China. The first PG 25 that left the factory in 2000 still works today (pictured), and is clear proof this model has stood the test of time. As a fitting tribute this model was the last PG slurry tanker to leave the production line recently. The burning question is why has the Danish manufacturer phased out its most successful slurry tanker ever? “Conditions within agriculture have changed and keep changing,” says Samson Agro managing director Lars Henriksen. “Farmers require stronger tankers that can operate larger implements and match larger and larger tractors. They also want advanced technology capable of providing documentation.” Launched earlier this year, the PG II 25 is designed to meet all these requirements. Bringing the total number of PG II slurry tanker models to eight (first one launched in 2013), the newcomers have slowly taken over the sales of PG tankers – both in Denmark and abroad. It remains to be seen whether these latest machines will be as successful as the original PG, but the newcomers are certainly enjoying a good start with sales already into three-figures.
