Belgian potato equipment manufacturer AVR has seen sales rise continually during the past decade, and currently sells around 500 machines a year. To ensure it is able to keep pace with expected future demand the company is currently expanding its facilities at Roeselare with a new 10,000sq.m. production hall. Under construction behind the current 20,000sq.m. buildings, the new production hall will build trailed potato harvesters. The current building will to concentrate on planters and self-propelled potato harvesters. “The existing production facilities have become too small to continue manufacturing as efficiently as before,” explains AVR managing director Stefan Top. “More space means better organisation, less transport, a more structured production line and more room for storing finished machines. Our lead times become tighter to ensure timely deliveries, even if production increases.” The new production hall is expected to be up and running early next year.
