Following a successful viewing day, Cheffins carried out an online dispersal of machinery from J L Carter and Sons in Cheshire, where everything was moved on at some astonishing prices.
Auctioneer Cheffins hosted an online timed sale of over 100 bits of second-hand ag machinery on behalf of JL Carter and Sons from Knutsford in Cheshire. Over 150 potential buyers attended the on-site viewing day in Allostock before the online sale took place the last week of January.
All off the lots found a new home both in the UK or overseas. The sale included well-maintained tractors, a self-propelled sprayer, harvesters, vehicles, potato kit and a range of implements.
£40,000 was also paid for this 2008 Bateman RB26 self-propelled sprayer with 6,165 hours, recently fitted 24m hydraulic folding Contour booms, 2009 Stocks Fan Jet front mounted slug pelleter, Trimble FM-750 multi-function guidance display, manual four section control and on Michelin 16.9R30 wheels and tyres.
Tractor highlights included a 2017 John Deere 6215R tractor with 2,315 hours on the clock which sold for above the estimate at £85,000. Similarly, a 2008 John Deere 7530 with 8,650 hours made a healthy £35,500, whilst a 6930 with 6,879 hours made an astonishing £42,750.
With a hammer price of £85,000, the 2017 John Deere 6215R came with an AutoQuad 50km/hr transmission, front linkage and pto, front and cab suspension, air brakes and was AutoTrac ready. It had completed just 2,325 hours and tyres were still very good.
Also, on offer was a 2005 Grimme self-propelled potato harvester which was sold for £40,000; a 2015 Grimme GT170 trailed potato harvester made £61,500 and a 2008 Bateman RB26 24m self-propelled sprayer which was knocked down at £40,000.
One of the main lots of the sale was this 2005 Grimme SF100GBS, two-row self-propelled harvester. Hours were unknown but looked in great shape. Offered with numerous webs, the spec included picking platform with trash chutes, waste conveyor and unloading elevator. Bidding stopped at a straight £40,000.
But top price the day was £96,500 for the 2011 Grimme RH24-60 Combi mobile grader. Fitted with 2.4m intake hopper feeding onto four Multi-Sep rollers, extraction cleaner unit with soil extraction conveyor then feeding to seven hydraulically driven coil cleaner roller with a soil extraction conveyor underneath.
Split conveyor picking off area, suitable for six operators with reject chutes and conveyor, Grimme Visual Control touch pad operating system, feed off conveyor, canopy frame and internal lights, it was definitely in demand on the day.
The spec sheet for the pair of Bailey 14t tandem axle trailers included sprung drawbar, hydraulic tailgate, air and hydraulic brakes, plus 560 tyres. The 2016 example was sold at £14,750, whilst the older 2011 model did equally well at £13,750.
“In spite of some low commodity prices and continued challenging weather conditions, demand for high-quality and well-maintained kit continues to prevail and the success of this sale demonstrates the buoyancy of the trade post-Brexit,” states Oliver Godfrey, director at Cheffins. “The sale saw well over 50,000 views on the Cheffins website, as buyers from both the UK and overseas looked to take advantage of the machinery on offer.”
Main picture: Making a very healthy £42,750, a 2012 John Deere 6930 Premium with a 50km/hr AutoQuad transmission certainly did very well. Fitted with front linkage and pto, cab and front suspension. Another similar tractor with just a front linkage and 6,000 hours took home £42,250.
