Belarusian manufacturer Amkodor is testing prototypes of a number of 5000 series articulated tractors from 330hp to around 500hp.
Amkodor is better known in its homeland (and main export markets of Africa, Bangladesh, China, Eastern Europe, Kazakhstan and Russia) for its construction machinery: excavators, wheeled loaders and dozers and forestry kit. The Minsk-based company also makes mixer wagons, mowers, telehandlers and grain driers, but it is less well known that it has a project to develop a range of articulated tractors.
With a wheelbase of 3.7m, the restyled 5300 is 2.6m wide and 3.8m tall.
The first, the 330hp 5300, broke cover as long ago as 2017. The 8.0l six -pot Stage II turbocharged common rail block in the 16t tractor was supplied by the Minsk Motor Plant (MMZ) and the top speed of the outsourced 16fx2r powershift was 37km/hr. Standing on 710/70R42 tyres, the 980l fuel tank was said to provide enough capacity to work for 10 hours and the hydraulic flow rate is 150l/min.
Following a couple of years of testing, it was expected that Amkodor would start making the first production units. In the event, the tractor has still to make it to the price lists. The project continues, though, and the Belarussian manufacturer has not only restyled the 5300 (main picture), but also developed three more powerful models: the 5350AG (350hp), 5450AG (440hp) and 5550AG (490hp).
Chinese manufacturer Weichai supplies the Stage III 13.5l block in the 19.5t 5500AG. Producing a peak power of 490hp at 2100rpm, top speed of the 16f x 4r powershift nudges 42km/hr and like the 5450AG, the hydraulic flow is 200l/min.
The block in the 5450AG is a 440hp 12.5l Perkins six-cylinder mated to a full powershift with a maximum speed of 35km/hr. There is an electro-hydraulic diff lock and hydraulic flow rate is up to 200 l/min. There is no news of if/when any of the new models will make it to the production stage.
