The official figures have yet to be confirmed but around 450,000 visitors attended Agritechnica last week. Similar to visitor numbers to the last show in November 2103, figures from the event organiser (DLG – German Agricultural Society) reveal around 347,000 visitors came from Germany (4% increase on 2013). The 104,000 international visitors came from 124 countries. Most of them were from the Netherlands (13,000), Switzerland (10,000), Austria (9,900), Ireland (6,900), Denmark (5,800), France (4,300), Sweden (4,100), Finland (3,700) and Great Britain (3,200). Another 7,200 visitors came from North, Central and South America while 1,000 came from Oceania, and another 1,200 from African countries. CEO Dr Reinhard Grandke of the DLG says the mood at the stands was much more upbeat than expected – as reflected in the high willingness to invest. “According to an independent survey, more than two thirds of farmers believe their businesses are currently in a good position. And they are intending to invest over the next couple of years,” he says. The next Agritechnica is scheduled to take place from 14 to 18 November 2017 (preview days on 12 and 13 November).
