Claimed to offer higher standards of comfort, performance, manoeuvrability and visibility, the new 6M series will be a highlight on John Deere’s Agritechnica stand.

Replacing the previous 6M, 6MC and 6RC ranges, the new 6Ms include four new four-cyl models from 90 to 120hp, the short 2.4m wheelbase on all four allowing for a turning circle of 4.35m.

The low bonnet design provides a clear view to the front of the tractor, says Deere, and the slimmer steering wheel cowl and newly designed panoramic window in the cab roof provides good visibility for loader work.

Other features include a newly designed cab with all the important operating functions located on the redesigned right-hand panel.

The John Deere motors in the four new four-cyl models (6090M, 6100M, 6110M and 6120M) is a 4.5-litre PowerTech EWL, while the 6130M, 6140M and 6145M have a 4.5-litre PowerTech PSS engine.

Larger models are powered by six-cylinder 6.8-litre PVS engines. The smaller 6090M to 6140M tractors also feature Intelligent Power Management (IPM) for the first time, which increases performance by 20hp for pto work and transport – so the four-cyl 6140M develops up to 166hp maximum power with IPM.

Three different gearbox options are offered on the new 6Ms. PowrQuad and AutoQuad are four-step powershift transmissions, while CommandQuad Plus offers fully automatic gear and range shifting without using the clutch.

With EcoShift, the maximum speed of 40km/hr is achieved at a reduced engine speed of 1590rpm. In addition, AutoClutch allows the operator to stop and restart the tractor simply by using the brake pedal.
