Eight months after the reveal at Agritechnica, John Deere has officially added two new X-Series combine harvester models to its 2021 harvesting line-up; the 639hp (max.) X9-1000 and 700hp (max.) X9-1100.

Designed specifically to help large-scale farmers harvest more tonnes per hour and more hectares per day in tough, high yielding, wet conditions, the X9-1100 can harvest wheat at a claimed 100tph at less than 1.0% loss level.

Grunt to the two newcomers is from an all-new PowerTech 13.6-litre six-cylinder block and the 1,250-litre fuel tank, which can be fully filled in under 2.5 minutes, allows the combines to run for up to 14 hours.

The outside dimensions are about the same as the S790, but the X9s are bigger on the inside with the largest active threshing and separation areas John Deere has ever offered.

Claimed as the widest on the market, the feeder house is the foundation for the X9’s increased performance. This is coupled with a new dual rotary separator and what is claimed as the industry’s largest cleaning shoe (7.0m²). With 36% more cleaning area, the new fan in the cleaning shoe provides 45% more cleaning capacity than the S-Series.

The heart of the X9-1000 and X9-1100 are the 3.51m long XDS (Dual Separator) rotors. The modular concept, which comes from the S-Series, provides a separation area of 22.50m².

“Crop in the XDS is handled through nine revolutions, resulting in low losses and increased harvesting capacity,” says John Deere product marketing manager Jonathan Edwards. “As conditions change, the X9 combine can make automatic adjustments for the operator so it consistently operates at peak levels.”

The X9-1000 grain tank holds 14,800 litres and the X9-1100 up to 16,200 litres, with unloading rates of up to 186lit/sec. Folding unloading augers with an adjustable spout are available in various lengths.

Other features include the new ProDrive XL transmission, which provides a claimed 30% more torque than the existing ProDrive for hillsides, as well as wet and muddy conditions; 40kph and engine speed management to 1700rpm on the road.

As on the 9000 Series self-propelled forage harvesters, the X9 also features HarvestMotion, a belt-drive system which delivers 20% lower fuel consumption and 30% more torque, as well as lower engine rpm.

The two combines are fitted with what is claimed as the quietest and most comfortable John Deere cab ever. Available in three different specification levels, latest equipment and options include seat heating and ventilation, a seat massage function and an app-enabled radio.

JDLink is available free of charge on both models for two years and both X9s can be equipped with AutoMaintain, Active Terrain Adjustment and Active Yield. The X9s are available on wheels or tracks with a transport width below 3.5m. LED lighting is standard on both machines.

John Deere dealers will start taking orders for the new combines later this summer for delivery for the 2021 harvest. We understand a few X-Series demo machines will be floating around in the UK this harvest.

Finally, the expanded John Deere header line-up for the 2021 harvest includes new HD Hinged Drapers range, new HydraFlex Drapers and a BP15 Belt Pickup. Each is compatible with the new John Deere X-Series and most S-Series, T-Series and W-Series combines.

Available in cutting widths from 10.7 to 13.7m (35 to 45ft), the HDX provides wing tip travel of up to 300cm and features an extra deep belt design of 1.2m. Available in sizes from 10.7 to 15.2m (35 to 50ft), the HDR (Hinged Draper Rigid Knife) is aimed at farmers growing little or no oilseed rape.

The RDF (Rigid Draper Flex Knife) HydraFlex Drapers are based on the cutting technology of the existing 700FD model, while providing new features to reduce grain loss.
