It is 50 years since German manufacturer BvL made its first silage block cutter in 1973. To mark the anniversary, the company has released the V-Load Cutter Megastar HD.

Using the reinforced frame of the Master model with the compact cutting size of the Megastar, the compact silage block dimensions it produces are said to make it attractive for front mounting and for removing blocks from the top of a tall clamp with a telehandler. With an unloading capacity of 2.15-2.95m³, the new model is equipped with the patented double knife cutting system with a split front cutting edge.

Bernard van Lengerich, as it is officially called, reckons to have sold around 90,000 silage block cutters in 50 countries. Mixer wagons account for the majority of BvL production, but the company says that silage block cutters are still in demand for filling large mixer wagons and with automated feeding systems.

Now in its fifth generation, the family owned business generates an annual turnover exceeding €60m. With a staff of 400, around 70% of the machines BvL makes are exported.
