Latest figures from the AEA show registrations for 50hp plus tractors fell by 50.6% in April compared to the same month in 2019.
Overall 3,677 tractors have been registered in 2020, 862 of which were last month. Overall, the January to April stats are down 23.3% versus the first four months of 2019 in the UK.
The AEA points out that a sales dip was always anticipated as April 2019 had been a very good month as this was when the UK was due to leave the EU.
The engineering association adds that there have also been delays at the DVLA due to the coronavirus and the temporary closure of several tractor plants will also impacted the figures. However, this is the lowest figure for April since the year 2000 and it is the lowest opening four month start since 2016.
