The 21,500+ Forterra tractors made at Zetor’s Czech production plant in Brno during the past 20 years can be found in 55 different countries. Launched late 1998, the first models were based on the Unified Series III. Only available with 4wd, the most powerful model at the time was the 115hp six-pot 11641 (power of the Zetor four-pot block in the current range peaks at 150hp).
To celebrate its 20-year milestone the present-day Forterras have received a number of updates (CL and HSX models launched earlier this year, HD coming this autumn). These include a new dashboard, high-pressure cab, more effective brakes (air brakes on HD versions), and an Eco 40 transmission which allows HSX and HD models to reach 40km/hr at a reduced engine speed of 1750rpm. The HSX is also available with front axle suspension.
