The 1000R, one of two new Can-Am Outlanders for 2025, is believed to be the first ATV to exceed 100hp. The second newcomer is the 82hp 850.
Powered by a new Rotax double-overhead camshaft 999cc V-twin engine, the 1000R is also claimed to provide the fastest acceleration in the industry. Both models offer work, standard and sport ride modes, and the CVT is said to improve torque and reduce maintenance requirements.
The revised suspension configuration sees front travel increased by 4.0cm to 27.4cm. Rear suspension travel is up by 5.4cm to 30.5cm, and there is additional ground clearance. As well as increasing stability at speed, the revised steering geometry is said to improve steering precision and turning radius. Towing capacity is 830kg.
Front and rear LED lights have been restyled, and the centralised exhaust has an aluminium muffler tip. There is a new wheel design on select packages and integrated front and rear bumpers.
Other notable points include the new 10l rear LinQ removable storage box and 30l of front dropdown storage for tools and supplies. Select packages feature a mobile phone storage compartment with a USB charging port.
The 850 is available in two model configurations (XT and Max XT). There are five different versions of the 1000R – Max DPS, X mr, XT-P, Max XT-P and Max Limited. The latter comes with a 10.25” touchscreen with smartphone connectivity.
The intake, CVT vent, radiator and front bumper on the Outlander X mr 1000R are repositioned higher to enhance airflow, even when negotiating muddy terrain. X mr models are also fitted with a 1.5t winch with synthetic rope and new 30-inch XPS Swamp King XL tyres.
