JCB engineers have designed a special jib attachment for the 14 JCB Loadall 531-70s trucked to Silverstone for this weekend’s British Formula 1 Grand Prix. Developed during the past six months with the motorsport governing body FIA, the device shifts the lifting point of the car away from the actual machine, making it easier and safer to quickly recover crashed cars during races.
Strategically located around the circuit on bends and at points where the likelihood of a car spinning off is higher, the 14 machines will provide four days of support at the Silverstone race circuit. Five JCB employees will be on hand to drive them, working alongside nine qualified operators. JCB has also supplied a further six machines to Silverstone including a mini excavator, a roller, site dumper and a backhoe loader.
