AGCO/Fendt is the latest company to temporarily stop production because of the Corona (Covid-19) pandemic.
Following on from yesterday’s official statement from AGCO about the temporary closure of its European assembly plants, Fendt production has shut down, after running out of parts to build new tractors yesterday.
The affected facilities, which we believe will be closed for the next three weeks, include the important sites of Marktoberdorf (tractors) and Asbach-Bäumenheim (cabs).
The company stresses that supporting dealers and customers remains a top priority during the disruption in production, and that parts production continues for now at the locations of Feucht (hay & forage), Waldstetten (forage wagons), Hohenmölsen (Katana forager) and Wolfenbüttel (round balers).
Given the lack of components then the only option is to stop production, says Christoph Gröblinghoff, chairman of the AGCO/Fendt management board. “When we can start again with the tractor production depends on the parts availability of our suppliers. We will start again as soon as the supply chain is working.”
“At AGCO the safety of our employees, dealers and farmers is the absolute focus of our efforts. At the same time, we want to ensure that our customers can continue to work and provide food for the population.”
We are informed that UK and Ireland dealers are well stocked for all the company’s tractors and products and that parts and service departments are all operational.
