Harvest and holidays impact negatively on what goes on at Cheffins yard and August is generally the quietest and slowest month of the year. Not this year though because the lack of stock and favourable exchange rates for foreign purchasers continues to drive up auction prices, and the firm reckons this month’s sale was the best since 2013. Strong trade was indicated early on for the 260 tractors with a 2007 Claas Arion 577 nudging £18,500 and £16,000 was paid for a 2009 Arion 630. A 2002 and 7,677-hour Case IH Quadtrac STX450 sold for £38,000, and Cheffins says there was plenty of interest for New Holland tractors.
