Clearly not one for a quiet, easy life, Hugh Wood juggles a suckler herd enterprise, combinable crops and yearround timber chipping on his family’s 445ha mainly arable farm — while also fitting in some contract arable and silage work. Hugh is the second generation running Rothill Farm at Whittingham, eight miles west of Alnwick; his father bought the property in 1968, and Hugh has increased its size in the meantime with some additional land.
