A 1990 Ford 7810 sold for an astonishing £22,575 at the 22nd annual Cheffins Harrogate vintage sale. One of a trio of classic Ford tractors, the hammer came down on the other two, a 1991 6810 and a 1988 4610 at £17,010 and £8,505 respectively.

In addition, an unusual and restored 1980 Mercedes Unimog sold for £10,290. Similarly there was a line-up of classic Massey Fergusons on offer which saw competitive bidding, including an FE35 which sold for £7,035; an MF 35 which made £7,245 and an MF 65 at £5,200. Amongst the cars, a 1983 Land Rover Series 3 sold for £5,250 and a 2002 Land Rover Defender made £6,195.

With more than 85 classic tractors on offer, over 1,000 lots went under the hammer at the Great Yorkshire showground, and the largest auction of its type in the Northern Counties grossed over £376,000.

“The prices achieved for the later classic tractors from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s illustrates the demand for these for ploughing matches and road runs, but also for enthusiasts looking to expand their collections.” says Cheffins chairman Bill King.
