German firm Fliegl will use next week’s Agritechnica to preview a concept that combines a grass pick-up, cutting rotor, storage bunker and unloading conveyer. Called the Büffel, and described as a revolution in grass and other swath-harvested crops, the pick-up and chopping rotor are similar to those on a forage wagon.
The company says the concept eliminates all the unproductive time when a forage wagon needs to leave the field to empty, and unlike a self-propelled forage harvester, the Büffel does not require the constant presence of a trailer; the storage bunker allowing it to continue working when there is a gap between them. Power requirement is claimed to be well below that of a dedicated SPFH or trailed harvester.
