Developed for intensive use by farmers and contractors, Kuhn Farm Machinery’s Multi-Longer GII 5757 hedge and grass cutter is capable of cutting hedge tops up to 5.50m in height and can cut 45-degree ditches to a distance of 3.63m. Sitting between the existing Poly-Longer and Pro-Longer ranges, the newcomer offers a maximum horizontal reach of 5.70m and 6.79m of vertical reach. Using the company’s Opt-View arm with hydraulic pivot mounts and semi-leading parallelogram design, the Multi-Longer’s frame is fully encased to protect the machine’s working components. All arm hoses are further protected by an integrated casing and a swivelling hose support plate reduces hose friction at the arm’s pivot points. The machine is controlled by a four-function joystick which can simultaneously activate the arm, outer boom, flail head orientation, pivot and floating head. The joystick works in conjunction with an intelligent control console with temperature, fan and float warnings, hour meter, optional automatic break-back and ram speed programming functions. The control console also features a grass or wood rotor control with anti-reverse safety, and incorporates diagnostic and repair modes. Fitted as standard with a 1.20m working head with 24 T-flails, a range of optional flail heads, cutter bars and saws is also available. For easier flail head attachment, a semi-rapid coupling device can be used to guide the arm onto the head attachment, and the machine can also be used with Kuhn’s Stabi-Link quick-hitch frame. Compatible with the company’s Shift Rail System which enables the cutting head to slide +/- 40cm along the arm to reach under fences or barbed wire, the Multi-Longer requires a minimum of a 90hp and 5-tonne heavy tractor.
