First Zetor tractor with Deutz engine Late last year Zetor Tractors announced it had signed a long-term contract for German engine manufacturer Deutz AG to supply it with Stage IV engines for new tractor ranges both above and below the current Zetor line-up. Deutz engines will be used primarily in new Zetor ranges planned for this year and in 2016, and we understand a six-cylinder TCD 6.1 is heading for a new 200hp tractor coming later this year. In the meantime, a Deutz TCD 2.9-litre, four-cylinder power pack has just been installed in two new Major tractors – the 61hp Major 60 and the 75hp Major 80 (launched in 2013 with a Zetor-made engine). Meeting Stage IIIB engine requirements with an diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), the specification of the two tractors includes a 12 + 12 gearbox, a top speed of 30km/hr and a rear lift capacity of 2.4 tonnes. Zetor stresses the Proxima and Forterra will continue to be powered by Zetor engines, and that the company has developed engines that meet Stage IV emissions.
