Offering a maximum working width of 14.70m, the GA 15131 Gyrorake is the largest four-rotor trailed grass rake to date from Kuhn Farm Machinery. Added to support the existing 12.5m trailed GA 13131 and semi-mounted GA 8731 (8.60m) and GA 9531 (9.30m) machines, the newcomer uses four 3.65m diameter rotors. The forward pair equipped with 13 tine arms and the rear pair with 15 tine arms. Each tine arm is fitted with four tines, giving a working width of 9.50m to 14.70m. Raking height can be adjusted hydraulically as standard, with all four rotors powered by Kuhn’s headstock-mounted hydraulic drive unit which gives the option to increase front rotor speed by up to 20% when working in lighter crops. Working together to create a single 1.4 to 2.5m-wide swath, the four rotors are controlled via a cab-mounted VT50 series terminal. This is ISOBUS compatible and allows operating sequences to be pre-programmed. Mounted on four pivoting, large diameter wheels, each rotor can be lifted individually and the company’s Stabilift system ensures each rotor is lowered parallel to the ground, even on rough terrain. The rotor wheels sit close to the tines to further improve ground following, and the manufacturer says a bogie axle and Kuhn’s 3D rotor suspension system provide even greater stability and closer ground contouring when working at high speeds. With a minimum tractor PTO requirement of 115hp, the new rake folds to a compact transport dimension of just 3m wide by 4m high and 10.90m in length.
