Fendt sold slightly fewer new tractors in Germany last month, but for the first six months of the year managed to consolidate its leading position with 4,117 (4,349 during same period in 2014) new tractors. Good for a 21.6% share of the German tractor market, it remains to be seen whether second-placed John Deere will be able to reduce the gap during the second half of this year. During the first six months, the 3,247 new tractors registered by Deere was good for second spot with 17% of the market. The company was still in second place during the first six months of last year, but the 3,798 units registered were equivalent to an 18.4% share of the German tractor market. Claas continues to make progress, and saw the number of new tractor registrations in Germany rise from 1,772 during the first half of 2014, to 1,913. Claas continues to occupy the third spot, but its share of the German tractor market has risen from 8.6% during the first six months of 2014 to 10% during the same period this year.   Only three other suppliers managed to sell more than 1,000 new tractors in Germany during the first six months of this year – Deutz-Fahr (1,698), Case IH/Steyr (1,540) and New Holland (1,286), which occupy fourth, fifth and sixth places respectively. The other top 10 spots are for Kubota (956/7th), MF (804/8th), Valtra (460/9th) and Iseki (423/10th). Overall, the 19,057 new tractors sold in Germany during the first half of this year is a 7.7% drop on the numbers during the same six months in 2014. By Steven Vale
