The technical details are under wraps, but Fendt will show an electrically-powered four-rotor rake with a 12.5m working width. Called the Former 12555 X, the company says electric drive provide numerous advantages over conventional hydraulic and mechanically-driven rakes. This includes the possibility to adjust the speed of each rotor separately. The electric rake also requires less maintenance, and there are no greasing points, which not only saves time but prevents grass from being contaminated. The electric rake is also quieter, and Fendt is talking of potential fuel savings in the order of 10%. The Former 12555 X should go on sale towards the end of 2016.
