Retailing at some way north of £100,000, Amazone’s monster 12m Catros+ 12003-2TS discs sit at the top of the chit-stimulating tree. And, not surprisingly, this flagship Catros is loaded with features — from its four-segment ContourFrame suspension, through maintenance-free disc bearings and easy-access depth adjustment, to its rear KW 580 wedge ring roller or KWM 650 wedge ring roller with matrix press. Particularly clever is the way in which the machine’s two outer sections can be folded on top of the two inner sections to give extra soil penetration at a 7m working width — when working a tough headland, for example. Folding again delivers the Catros’s 3m transport width. The 510mm serrated discs can be set to till at 5-15cm depths, and power requirement is reckoned to be around 360-400hp to achieve a target cultivating speed of 12-15km/hr.
