Zetor is close to launching its eagerly awaited 6 series tractors, a 131-171hp four-pot range to replace the Forterra HD (130, 140 and 150) and Crystal HD 170. The Czech manufacturer also confirms it is developing a 200hp+ range.

The impending arrival of the new 6 was first announced on the company’s Facebook page in October 2023, followed by the first showing of the prototype at Techagro in Brno (main picture) in April, last year.

At Agromek last November, Danish Zetor importer Danatek handed out a leaflet to help us fill in some of the spec blanks. We were also provided with the model numbers; 6130 (130hp), 6140 (141hp), 6150 (156hp) and 6170 (171hp).

The 6 series prototype was previewed at Techagro 2024.

To recap, the 4.1l Deutz common rail engine delivers its maximum power at 1900rpm, and meets Stage V emissions through SCR, DPF, and external exhaust gas recirculation. The ZF TPT 16 powershift provides a total of 30fx15r gears (54fx27r gears with creeper) and a top speed of 40km/hr.

Now, Zetor has issued a press release that provides us with a little bit more information on the new range. The company says that the more robust construction of the transmission increases the rear axle load capacity to 8.5t, and the total tractor weight will reach 11.5t. The system also includes smart braking, which allows the tractor to start and stop simply by pressing the brake pedal.

With 120l/min hydraulics, rear linkage lift capacity is 7.2t (front linkage 3.5t). Four mechanically controlled rear spools are standard, with the option of two more up front. The updated PTO offers selectable speeds of 540, 540E, 1000, and 1000E rpm. Both cab and front axle are suspended, the central column adjusts in two directions, and there is a new armrest and optional 24″ touchscreen.

6 series prototypes accumulated more than 1,000 operating hours under varying conditions last year in the Czech Republic and Germany. We are informed that production versions (scheduled to start sometime this year) of the 6 will look slightly different to the prototype, with changes to the rear fenders, fuel tank and cab access steps.

“The Series 6 will become Zetor’s new flagship and sets a new direction for the development and assembly of our future products,” explains Róbert Harman, CEO of Zetor Tractors.

“With a power range from 131 to 171hp, the 6 will replace the current Forterra and Crystal ranges. I can already confirm that work and testing are underway for the 5 series, which will correspond in performance to the Proxima model range. As part of our long-term product plans, we will also introduce tractors corresponding to the Major range, as well as a completely new model with over 200hp.”
