Best known for its heavy drum grassland aerators, AerWorx had a direct drill on display at LAMMA.
Pithily tagged the ‘Viper’, the Turkish built box-drill employs 21 double-disc openers to work straight into grassland or stubbles at 12.5cm row spacings. With both spring and hydraulic downforce adjustment we’re told it’s possible to generate up to 90kg of pressure per coulter. Consolidation and depth control is provided by individual rubber press wheels.
Being a box-drill, gearbox rate control is simple while large and small seed fluted rollers apparently cater from everything from the smallest clovers right up to beans. The 1,000-litre hopper has pivoting baffles making it possible vary the split between grain and fertiliser or different varieties of seed.
The plan is to develop a piggy-back mounting kit for existing Aerworx machines to make reseeding and aeration a one-pass operation. The Viper carries a £24,000 price tag.
